Frequently Asked Questions

MAGNAZip is our latest breakthrough innovation—a true game-changer! Inspired by the Altex line, we’ve taken it a step further to develop the world’s first patent-pending magnetic track-guided blinds.

The idea behind MAGNAZip was to eliminate the common but natural issues faced by all track-guided blinds. Over time, exposure to outdoor elements like heat, rain, and UV can cause the fabric to expand, resulting in wrinkles and creases. Even something as simple as leaving the blinds rolled up for a long time can lead to creases when you roll them back down. (Kind of like how a rolled-up piece of paper takes time to flatten back out) MAGNAZip is designed to tackle these issues, keeping the fabric looking pristine for many years to come.

This breakthrough innovation quickly resolves these problems, ensuring your blinds maintain their sleek look.

We are proud to provide a comprehensive 5-year warranty covering both the Somfy motor and the mechanism of our blinds, with the labour fee waived for the first two years. Additionally, the MAGNAZip includes a 5-year warranty on the fabric, safeguarding against any unexpected creases and the warping commonly referred to as the “smiling face effect.”

Please note that the warranty for fabric creases is applicable only when the blinds are fully closed. This position activates the suction of the magnets and the spring coil, ensuring that the fabric remains taut.

We also want to clarify that minor waves in the fabric are not covered under the warranty. These slight waves are typically visible only from the side and are a natural characteristic of the fabric, especially when stored in the headrail (top box) for an extended period. They are generally not noticeable from the front view.

We are pleased to offer an extended warranty of up to 3 years on the mechanism and labour. For more details about this option, please consult our team members, who will be happy to provide you with the necessary information.
MAGNAZip uses perforated fabric with tiny holes that do not allow air to pass through easily. This effectively preserves the cool air in your space, allowing you to stay comfortable in Singapore’s scorching heat!

Yes, you can leave MAGNAZip fully down or retracted. However, it is important to avoid leaving them half-retracted as this position is more susceptible to vulnerability.

Please exercise caution while raising and lowering your blinds, especially during windy conditions. Smaller panels, being lighter, may experience less smoother operation. Applying gentle pressure on the panel while operating the blinds can help reduce any resistance. Additionally, closing your balcony’s sliding door before lowering the blinds can minimise wind draft and suction, resulting in a smoother operation (highly recommended).

Absolutely! MAGNAZip is effective at keeping out regular rain splashes. However, please note that during exceptionally heavy rain and windy weather, the perforated fabric may allow rainwater to seep through which could result in dampness on your floor area. Even with the usage of 100% block-out fabric, it’s important to be aware that over time, the silicone used for sealing purposes may wear off, which can potentially lead to water seepage.

Absolutely! We highly encourage our customers to integrate outdoor-specific furniture into their setup, even with the installation of MAGNAZip. In the event that outdoor furniture is not readily available or an option for you, we strongly recommend opting for furniture that possesses adaptability features or exhibits certain levels of water-resistance.

The primary function of MAGNAZip is to enhance the overall quality of your living space by offering excellent sun-shading, protection from the rain (not 100%), prevention of insect intrusion, and the opportunity to make optimal use of your outdoor area. However, it is important to note that MAGNAZip is not intended to replicate the characteristics of a fully enclosed indoor room with solid walls. They are, fundamentally, blinds and are subject to certain limitations.

No, MAGNAZip does not support manual override. Therefore, it is essential to choose a reputable company that prioritises quality, responsiveness, and after-sales support when sourcing track-guided blinds. At mc.2, we exclusively use high-quality tubular motors from Somfy, France, a renowned market leader with over 50 years of experience in automation. You can have full confidence in the quality and durability of our motors.

We offer a one-for-one replacement policy for all defective or faulty Somfy tubular motors.

Absolutely not! The front panel of the MAGNAZip headrail is made from high-quality 6061-T6 aluminium, offering enhanced strength and durability, while the other exterior profiles are crafted from 6063-T5 aluminium.

a textured powder-coated finish, providing a sleek, scratch-resistant, and modern look. This finish ensures exceptional durability and rust resistance for MAGNAZip, even in harsh environmental conditions.

It depends! At mc.2, we pride ourselves on our flexibility, strong R&D capabilities, and extensive experience in adapting to challenging installation conditions.

We have developed several installation methods and tools to accommodate uneven floors and areas with floor traps (drainage) that may obstruct the installation of the metal plate needed to secure the magnets.

That said, we recommend that our team visit the site to assess the situation. This allows us to determine the best approach to ensure a successful and safe installation, so you can enjoy your product for many years to come.

Please note that for higher ceilings (3.5 meters and above), the effect of the magnets will take longer to apply, resulting in a longer time for the fabric to straighten out.

This delay occurs because the increased distance from the magnets to the fabric means the downward pull force is less effective initially. The magnets need more time to exert their full influence over the fabric, allowing it to gradually straighten out and achieve that seamless look. As the fabric settles, the custom tension coil also plays a role in maintaining its position, but the overall process may take a bit longer in higher ceiling installations.

Minor creases can sometimes appear, especially when the fabric is new or has been kept up for an extended period of time. It’s similar to how a piece of paper curls and retains its shape initially but takes some time to flatten out. With MAGNAZip, the tension coil and magnets work together to smooth out the fabric, ensuring a pristine look that lasts for years.

If you notice any creases, simply leave the blinds down for about 30 minutes. This allows the magnets and tension coil to work their magic, helping those creases disappear on their own. If they’re still noticeable after that, just reach out, and we’ll be happy to send a team over to assist!

What you’re seeing isn’t actually a crease in the fabric but rather a “sail effect.” When the wind applies pressure, the fabric gets pushed backward. Since the fabric is secured within the fasteners to prevent it from coming loose, this pressure creates a slight pull, similar to what happens when you pull on your clothing—it creates a temporary wrinkle or crease-like effect. Rest assured, this is normal and does not affect the durability or performance of the blinds.

The amount of fabric movement can vary based on the height and width of the installation. For standard ceiling heights of 2.5 to 3 meters, any flapping should be minimal. However, with higher ceilings and wider panels, the larger surface area may lead to more noticeable movement under wind pressure.

Each MAGNAZip blind goes through rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance. Our specialised sizing formula allows the fabric to maintain the right amount of flexibility, enabling it to adapt to wind pressure without being stretched too tight, which could lead to faster wear. This flexibility is essential for long-lasting durability.

In short, some flapping is normal and expected. If you’d like to see how the blinds perform firsthand, feel free to visit our showroom and experience the fabric’s flexibility in different conditions.
