Rainbow blinds, also known as zebra blinds, combi blinds or Korean blinds, provide flexible control over natural light and privacy through alternating sheer and opaque fabric bands.
Their modern dual-layer design makes them suitable for Singapore HDBs, condominiums, landed homes, offices and commercial interiors. Manual and motorised options are available depending on the selected system.
Rainbow blinds use two layers of fabric with alternating sheer and opaque horizontal bands.
As the layers move past each other, the bands can be aligned to allow more filtered daylight or provide greater privacy without completely raising the blind.
This dual-layer system is what distinguishes rainbow, zebra or combi blinds from conventional single-layer roller blinds.
Aligning the sheer sections allows more natural light to pass through while helping soften direct sunlight and glare. This is useful in living rooms, studies and workspaces where daylight is preferred.
Aligning the opaque sections provides greater privacy and reduces the amount of incoming light. The exact level of privacy and light reduction depends on the selected fabric.
The entire blind can be raised when an unobstructed window view or maximum daylight is preferred.
Rainbow blinds combine the convenience of a roller-style mechanism with more flexible control over daylight and privacy.
The alternating sheer and opaque fabric bands allow users to adjust light and privacy without fully raising or lowering the blind.
This provides greater flexibility throughout the day.
The horizontal fabric pattern creates a distinctive contemporary appearance.
Different colours, textures and band widths are available to complement modern, minimalist and residential interiors.
Rainbow blinds can be operated manually or paired with compatible motorised systems.
Motorisation provides added convenience for larger windows, multiple blinds and smart-home applications.
Rainbow blinds are designed for convenient everyday use and generally require regular light cleaning or dusting to maintain their appearance.
Care requirements may differ depending on the selected fabric.
The sheer fabric sections help diffuse natural light and reduce harsh glare while maintaining a bright interior.
This makes rainbow blinds suitable for spaces where daylight is important.
| Feature | 彩虹遮帘 | 卷帘 |
|---|---|---|

| Light Control | Adjust bands without fully raising blind | Controlled mainly by blind height and fabric type |

| Strong Blackout | Less suited to complete darkening | Dedicated blackout fabrics available |
| Best For | Flexible daylight and privacy | Simplicity and stronger blackout options |
Choose rainbow blinds when flexible light adjustment and layered design are priorities.
Choose roller blinds where a simpler appearance or stronger blackout performance is preferred.
Rainbow blinds can be used across different residential and commercial spaces depending on the desired level of daylight, privacy and interior style.
Rainbow blinds are particularly well suited to living rooms where homeowners want to maintain natural light while adjusting privacy throughout the day.
Their layered appearance also complements modern HDB and condominium interiors.
Rainbow blinds can provide adjustable privacy and moderate light control for bedrooms.
Where maximum room darkening is the main priority, dedicated blackout roller blinds or curtains may provide stronger light reduction.
The ability to adjust filtered daylight makes rainbow blinds useful for studies and home offices.
The fabric bands can help reduce direct glare while maintaining a brighter workspace.
Rainbow blinds provide a clean and contemporary window treatment for selected offices, reception areas and commercial interiors.
Manual or motorised systems can be considered depending on the window size and operating requirements.
| Room | Suitability | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Living Room | Excellent | Flexible daylight and privacy |
| Study | Excellent | Adjustable filtered light |
| Home Office | Excellent | Helps manage glare and daylight |
| Bedroom | Good | Adjustable privacy and light control |
| Office | Good | Clean modern appearance |
| Media Room | Consider Alternatives | Dedicated blackout solutions may provide stronger darkening |
The appearance and performance of rainbow blinds depend heavily on the selected fabric, colour, texture and band design.
The sheer sections allow filtered daylight to enter while softening direct sunlight.
Different fabrics provide different levels of visibility and light diffusion.
Opaque fabric sections provide greater privacy when aligned.
The amount of light reduction depends on the selected fabric and should not automatically be treated as complete blackout.
Rainbow blinds are available in different colours, textures, patterns and fabric band widths.
Neutral shades can create a clean and understated look, while stronger colours or textures can become part of the room’s overall design.
Rainbow blinds can be paired with compatible motorised systems for easier operation.
Depending on the selected motor and controls, users may be able to operate individual blinds or groups of blinds through remote controls, mobile applications or compatible smart-home systems.
Motorisation is particularly useful for larger windows, multiple blinds and spaces where convenient everyday control is important.

If maximum darkness is required, ask the mc.2 team about alternative blackout solutions.
